Abstract

Stylosanthes guianensis cv. Endeavour oversown into Pennisetum polystachyon dominant grassland showed no response to either phosphorus or potassium alone but a strong positive interaction to both elements. The annual dry matter yield of stylo increased from 425 kg ha-1 without fertiliser to 6,850 kg ha-1 with both phosphorus and potassium. Fertiliser had no effect on grass yield. Highest stylo yields were obtained at rates of 80 kg ha-1 P and 200 kg ha-1 K.
